Briefly in English
Finnish Association of Geodetic and Land Surveyors
The Finnish Association of Geodetic and Land Surveyors MIL is a non-profit association that was founded in 1890. The purpose of the association is, among other things, to act as a contact space between its members, to promote the development of the land surveying field, and to represent Finnish land surveying in international contexts.
Activities
MIL holds a spring meeting annually in March or April and an autumn meeting in October or November. In September or October, MIL, together with the Guild of Surveying Engineers at Aalto University, arranges a membership event called Syyspäivän täräys. MIL also arranges a member trip each year.
Together with MAKLI (Finnish Association of Surveyors), MIL annually arranges the Land Surveying Days, which is an educational event with an emphasis on professional content and social interaction. The event is organized through the association Maankäyttö ry (linkki), where MIL and MAKLI are the only members.
International activities
MIL is a member of the international organizations FIG (International Federation of Surveyors) and CLGE (The Council of European Geodetic Surveyors). MIL also collaborates with other Nordic surveying organizations and participates each year in the Nordic Ombudsman meeting, which is arranged in turn in the Nordic countries.
Publications
MIL, together with MAKLI (Finnish Association of Surveyors) publishes the magazine Maankäyttö (link), with four issues a year. The magazine has been published without interruption since 1892. The magazine is distributed to all members as a member benefit.
Three times a year, the information sheet MILA (link) is published to the members.
